Scope Of Job:
Co-ordinates the provision of seamless care for patients from admission to discharge by utilising efficient verbal and written communication practices with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team / Primary Care Services and Carers.
Provides senior cover for, and is responsible for the ongoing management of the ward/ department area in the absence of the senior nurse.
Clinical Practice
Assess/examine patients, diagnose, plan, treat and review/evaluate. Assessment may be face-to-face by appointment or by telephone as part of a triage/unscheduled care team and will include patients presenting with an undifferentiated diagnosis.
Demonstrate competency in professional skills relating to ENP practice and expand those skills to meet the needs of the patients. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of specific groups of patients according to ENP policy, utilising a range of investigatory procedures without reference to a doctor.
Assist the ward/department manager to facilitate change processes within the area whether clinical or managerial in nature to ensure that the ward/department team foster innovative practice and meet patient needs.
In the absence of the ward/department manager, the post holder will supervise, deploy and develop all staff to ensure efficient management of a rapidly changing and developing nursing service.
